FOTOMAX

The photo developing and printing business is definitely shrinking as we all know. FOTOMAX has a strong franchise as the photo-finishing expert but the trouble is that people store digital photos on their computers instead of getting them printed. What would you do if you were to sustain FOTOMAX ? Selling more photo-related products like HP printer cartridges ? It has a network of 80+ stores and the thinking is pretty obvious : using the network to sell more products. However, would the saying about official products at the right price be good enough to attract people to visit its store ? I doubt it. What would you do to sustain the business of FOTOMAX ?

Fotomax is famous for its colourful prints. So, instead of price, is it possible to implement the 'colourful' attribute in the print ads in conjunction with the high printing quality of HP printer cartridges?

I think this is more related to the business/marketing strategy level, rather than how to manage the ad. There is no problem selling HP printer catridges but everyone is selling the same. This doesn't compensate for the loss of business due to the shrinking photo-finishing buisness.

I think it is correct that people like to store their photos in their computer these days, but there are still a portion of the population that wanted to have their photo printed. Compare to before, now there are fewer photo developing shop hence there are less competitiona and Fotomax can finally putting their price up. For fotomax having 80+ shops in Hong Kong, they sure hold a very competitive edge for this special service to customer.
In regards to expanding their sales volume and maximise profit, I think fotomax should also consider in offering printing service. For instance, company such as e-print and bannershop has grown very fast for the past few years. May be Fotomax can do a partnership with printing company to use its franchise network to act as a distribution channels for e-print etc.
