Hot hatch is the trend in cars. Believe it or not, Volvo has launched a hot hatch. Will it sell ? I doubt it. The brand means safety and it carries a robust, mature and conservative image. Hot hatch is about fun, youthfulness and flexibility. A Volvo hot hatch is simply 性格分裂. Guess why the ad only features the back of the car. See below which unveils the front. Yes the front just looks like the big safe Volvo your uncle drives. Who on earth would buy it, while there are so many other choices ? Lucky if 10 are sold. But when we see this car on the road, let's check out the driver : see if he or she looks like 性格分裂 .

I like its slogan said "it doesn't matter what your mother your dog....think about this car; love it? admire it?", it imply: no matter everyone think it is an uncle car, because YOU are uncle, you love it, and admire it!

Volvo is trying hard to gradually re-position itself beyond only being known by the high safety ratings of their vehicles. Believe it or not, it has actually created quite a stir in the automotive world, particulary in North America, because of its performance. But if you ask me whether I'll buy one, sorry, not a Volvo.

Volvo will have a lot of work to do to get rid of their old, conservative image. It'll be interesting to see what their next move will be.

It's always a danger to move away from the positioning already in mind of the consumers. What if Mercedes puts its name onto a small car with two seats and an engine smaller than 1,000cc ? They don't. They have Smart. Another brand.
