稻香 rice dumpling print ad

Dragon boat festival is around the corner. Rice dumpling is an important festive business for Chinese restaurants, next to mooncake. There is quite a sizable campaign from 稻香 advertising its new rice dumpling. It's been a while since 稻香 uses this kind of illustrative execution with a funny character/spokesperson. I have some mixed feeling about it. On one hand, it's good to be different from other typical restaurant ads. On the other, will it be well-received by Chinese restaurant goers who are more traditional and mature ? It's not easy to judge. What do you think ?

I think it is a creative way to demonstrate and differentiate 稻香brand especially with the gimmick in the second ad. 2 half pages of reading in the first ad is informative though, I would rather they put it in another way. Moreover, I think a real funny person of 陸總 in ad would be more impressive and convincing to the traditional chinese goers. Just think from my mum's viewpoint. She won't go for a rice dumpling because of a cartoon.Sad but true..

I think anyone with a sense of humor would enjoy reading this ad. There shouldn't be any difference in age groups.
It also targets the younger gens, maybe in a hope that they would be moved by this campaign, go buy some and serve their parents?
